The Health & Safety Authority (HSA) now recognises the PHECC First Aid Response (FAR) training course as meeting the needs of occupational first aid. The FAR Standard was developed by the Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council (PHECC) an independent statutory body who set the standards for education and training for pre-hospital emergency care in Ireland.

From the 1st of September 2017 the HSA will only recognise PHECC FAR as meeting the needs of OFA in workplaces.

  • The HSA will recognise any QQI OFA 5N1207 learner certificate issued up to 31 August 2017 for the full two year duration of the certificate.
  • Any refresher certificate issued by a recognised training provider issued up to 31st August 2017 will also be recognised by the HSA for the full two year duration of the certificate.
